Meet Jo, Industrial designer and founder of Morrama

Meet Jo, Industrial designer and founder of Morrama - KANKAN

Morrama are leading the way in innovative product design for start ups. They were our first and only pick to work with when we started our dispenser project and they're a lovely bunch of people to boot. Here is a wee insight on Jo Barnard, the Creative Director of Morrama.

Tell us a little about where you live, who you live with and why this is important to you.

I live in Bow with my wife Elizabeth. We have a ground floor flat and have plants everywhere both indoors and outdoors.

What do you do?

I’m Creative Director and founder of an industrial design and innovation consultancy Morrama. We design beautiful products for startup companies looking to challenge markets and bring new experiences to users.

What is the best part of your job?

Working with my amazing team. We are a team of 10 now and each person brings an energy, creativity and viewpoint that makes our design style what it is. Working closely with the other designers and feeling so passionate and excited about a product as it comes to life has to be the best feeling ever.

Name one everyday object that you can’t live without?

My watch. It’s a simple orange Casio, but without it I feel naked.

What smell makes you feel hungry?

When Lizzy’s cooking feijoada. It’s a Brazilian black bean stew and her recipe is absolute heaven.

What’s your 2021 sustainable pledge you’ve made?

To implement sustainability measurement and analysis into every single one of our projects at Morrama and ensuring the startups we work with are putting sustainability at the heart of their business.

What is the first place you recommend to visitors that are coming to town?

Forget ‘West is Best’, East London is where it’s at. Stay at Mama Shelter, eat in Shoreditch, party in Dalston and brunch on the canal near Victoria Park.

Thank you Jo for sharing!
